I have the opportunity to purchase a used ATV in a month or two to supplement my damaged legs around the house and at the range. One of the items bringing the price down is the fact that the ATV does not have the standard winch it was built with.

Typically, I would not see a need for the winch, but I do realize there could be times when a winch would be advantageous. The standard having been a Warn XT2500 or RT2500. Being on pension and disability, I need to watch my expenses, so replacing the missing winch with a Warn is out of the question. I am looking at two significantly less expensive winches and would like an opinion. One winch is a "Superwinch LT2000" which I can obtain for , while the other is a "Badlands 2000" being sold by Harbor Freight for . I realize you get what you pay for ... and Superwinch is an established winch manufacturer.

Can anyone share some first-hand experiences with either winch?
